Solar powered sound installation: 47 piezo transducers
are attached to wires of varying lengths and wrapped around the trunk
and branches of an oak tree situated at the meeting of suburban
neighborhood and suburban park. Using the Arduino microcontroller,
short bursts of electricity generated by the solar panels are sent to
each of the piezos, creating a distinctive chirping sound. When heard in succession,
these chirps create an architectural audio space defined by the various locations
of the transducers. The piece exists as an exploration of the spatialization sound,
an examination of natural form, and as an invitation to blur the line between nature and culture.
